City of Zagreb recognized the importance of demographic policy measures aimed at children, youth and families.
Most important measures include:
Newborn equipment supply financing – since 2004; every newborn child resident in Zagreb, under certain conditions, is granted single financing. The amount depends on the number of children in the family.
Financing stay-at-home parents - since September 8, 2016. Applicable to one parent in families with three or more children. On average, there are 50 new users every month.
Through
various forms of scholarships, we allocate
more than 50,000,000.00 kunas per year to our excelling students.
Public transport in the City of Zagreb is free of charge for more than 12,000 pupils and university students. Unemployed and retired persons can also use public transport free of charge.
Every school year, around 37,000 children attend day-care in the City of Zagreb. The City co-finances the program and is in charge of over 200 Day care facilities around the city.
The City of Zagreb also provides funds for about 13,000 children attending the after school care program in primary schools. Each year, 40,000,000.00 kunas goes for free textbooks for all primary and secondary school students.
Family packages assistance is given to families or guardians of three or more underage children if they are beneficiaries of the guaranteed minimum allowance, and to single parent families with one or more underage children if the parent is a beneficiary of the guaranteed minimum allowance.
Infant formula assistance provides support in the form of infant formula for children whose mothers cannot breastfeed, ensuring regular growth and development of our youngest citizens.
Free summer vacation for children of families with lower household incomes (1,100) and rehabilitation-recreational vacation program for children with development impairment (400) and for persons with disabilities. The total amount is 1,600,000.00 kunas.
Children gift packages for Easter and St. Nicholas day – more than 3,600 children receiving family package benefits, soup kitchen users and infant formula assistance beneficiaries (for every child up to 12 years of age).
Financing persons - parent caretakers and child with developmental difficulties caretakers. 1,000.00 kunas a month and free annual public transport passes.
